New Year, New YOU!

, by Idaho Athletic Club

Getting back into the gym after significant time off may seem like a daunting task. Don’t worry, we have all been there. Here are a few pointers to help you start strong with ambitious fitness goals and to maintain those healthy habits throughout the year.

  • NUTRITION Number one priority with any fitness goal should be nutrition. While eating habits make up 80% of fitness result it is important to hash out a realistic food plan that works toward progress and lasting results. Keep a food log and be conscious of what types of food and how much you are putting into your body.
  • CONSISTENCY Work on a regimented exercise program that gets you up and moving at least 4 times per week. Incorporate 55% cardiovascular exercise into your workouts and 44% resistance training to maximize results and time spent in the gym. Make your trip to the gym a habitual part of your routine.
  • CELEBRATE! Whether it be an extra lap around the track or one better food choice for the day; celebrate the small victories, as they are all a component to maintain motivation toward your overall goal of optimal health and fitness.
