When people think about the St. Luke’s $10,000 Weight Loss Challenge, they usually think two things: diet and working out. And to most people, those are some dreaded words. Are we right? Let’s look at the “working out” bit today and try to change that.

As far as “working out” goes, do you know what our philosophy is? Move each day, for 30 minutes—just move. Whether it’s a quick walk around the block, three short 10-minute bursts of housework/throwing the ball with the kids/running back and forth to my car, or actually going to the gym and “working out” for 30-minutes, we just move for 30-minutes each day.

30-minutes. That’s half of one episode of Real Housewives. It’s less time than it takes us to get to work in the morning. It’s half of the average working-person’s lunch break. And it’s short enough to not be something you “dread,” but instead something you can look forward to. That’s 30-minutes that you’re taking for yourself to take small steps to reach your goal. And once you’re going—It goes fast, we promise.
