Ask Dr. Mom

St. Luke’s family medicine providers share their tips on keeping their families—and themselves—healthy in a busy world.

Dr. Trisha Eckman, Baker City

How I de-stress: I have a massage or go for a walk.

My favorite healthy snack: Apples and peanut butter

Advice for moms: 1. Get plenty of sleep. 2. Have a girls’ night with friends.

Advice for parents: Have regular date nights.

Dr. Sarah Gerrish, Eagle

Dinner on a busy night: Roasted chicken from the grocery store, brown rice, and steamed broccoli

My favorite healthy snack: Almonds

How I stay healthy: I take 30 minutes every day to myself, no matter how busy I am, and spend it however I want (exercising, reading, sleeping, meditating, or just playing with my kids).

Dr. Mousoomi Sur, Boise

How I de-stress: I say no to screen time, including cell phones.

My favorite healthy snack: A handful of mixed nuts.

How I boost my mental health: I think positive. Tough times do not last but tough people do.

The #1 question I get from patients: How can I prevent illness?

What I tell them: Eat right and exercise 3-5 times per week.

Ask Dr. Mom will be an ongoing series of tips provided by St. Luke's family medicine providers.
